Meet Your Guide
Ron DaRosa and RD Outdoors bring a lifetime of fishing experience to your day on the water. Ron’s guiding career began in 1985 when he was recruited to be a bass specialist at Ron and Al Lindner’s renowned Camp Fish in Minnesota’s Leech Lake resort region. That Camp Fish experience ignited Ron’s passion for sharing his expertise and experience with others. Ron has led fishing tours since the mid-80s and is now one of a select few providing a 100% smallmouth experience on Mille Lacs.
Throughout the years, Ron has participated in hundreds of fishing tournaments, many of which yielded money-winning finishes. He was a regular guest on “The Fishing and Outdoor Radio Show,” Chicago’s longest-running and most-listened-to sportsmen’s show.
He’s at home navigating both northern Minnesota and Southern Illinois waters. As a kid, Ron spent time in southern Illinois at the foothills of the Ozarks where lakes and woods are plentiful. Since his childhood, he’s spent every spare minute he can find fishing those waters. Additionally, the DaRosas have family homes on both Mille Lacs Lake in northern Minnesota and Lake of Egypt in southern Illinois. His family ties and love of the outdoors are what keep him coming back to these havens for serious fisherman.
“I’ve fished in the Northwest Territories, catching artic grayling out of the Mackenzie River that flows out of Great Slave Lake. I angled for bass on the ledges of Kentucky Lake and fished in tournaments on the Ohio River,” Ron recalls. “I even flipped docks on Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks. Of all my fishing experiences, I’ve enjoyed hooking smallmouth in Mille Lacs Lake and finding abundant crappie on the lakes of Southern Illinois. Those are the places I hope you’ll join me.”
