Guide Service Southern Illinois  Crappie Fishing

Southern Illinois is home to some of the Midwests best crappie and bass fishing.  When I return from beautiful Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota in October you will find my boat on these fine southern Illinois waters.  Crappie gang up on brush piles in 10 to 30 feet of water throughout the fall, winter, and early spring. Whether it be Crab Orchard, Lake of Egypt, Rend lake or one of the many other lakes in southern Illinois crappie can be caught in similar fashion.  Vertical jigging is the most common method during this period . Jigs and or minnows presented in and above the crappie sets produce consistent action. With today’s advanced electronics and my nearly 1000 waypoints on area lakes we don’t go long between bites!

While most of my guiding in southern Illinois consists of crappie fishing, bass fishing can also be very good depending on the weather. Call me and let me share my lifetime of experience to make your day outdoors a success!
